My dream job, besides babysitting for Sasha and Malia Obama, is to be a host on the show Globe Trekker. I would love to travel the world having adventures, meeting interesting people, and sharing their stories (I could do without eating bugs and flying in rickety aircraft, though). I recently perused the Globe Trekker website in search of advice. Step one? Travel.

Oh. Right. I guess that would be a good place to start. After 20 years in captivity, this restless anthropology major from rural Pennsylvania is finally busting out and fleeing the country. Currently accepting applications for hostages. Must speak fluent Gaelic. My four month sojourn will take me to the Emerald Isle to study at the University College Cork, but I have a feeling most of my learning will take place outside the classroom. It’s not that I haven’t loved every minute of the quality time I’ve spent in the library with my nose in a course pack, but I signed up to learn about people. And that’s exactly what I plan to do. My family wants me to come home with a proper Irish brogue, but I know I’ll be bringing back something much more valuable from this adventure of a lifetime.

  1. Meg! It’s you and you look just like a local Irish lass out for a walk! I knew that bridge over the River Liffy the moment I saw it.
Have the best of each day. I’m very excited for you!!
