Me siento enfermo. I can’t sleep.
Pum-pum, pum-pum, pum-pum, goes my heart, mi corazón…
The fever rises as I smother and smear myself in sheets upon sheets upon comforters, under sábanas, North Face, and alpaca. Maybe I’ll sweat it out.
I purposely came home “early” to go to bed, but made the mistake of taking one more Kitadol Max, some fever pill or something. Abuela gave it to me. It helps, but not if you want to go to sleep.
Pum-pum, pum-pum, pum-pum, pum-pum…
It’s like caffeine. I knew I was supposed to buy the nighttime version of this pastilla, but it’s cold enough outside, even worse with a fever. And today was really nice actually. Still, I didn’t go inside the Híper Líder supermarket, (owned by Wal-Mart®) when I passed by it today, since I was in a hurry to get to the registro on time (am I supposed to put that little ‘r’ there? It took me awhile to find it on the keyboard, especially in the dark). The only time you can count on places to operate on a schedule is when they want to close for the day, usually around 14:00 for important places like banks and the registro, where I have been approximately 10 times to try to process my student identity card (see my post on bureaucracy, if I have published it yet). I will finally get my cédula in two weeks.
Pum-pum, pum-pum, pum-pum, pum-pum pum-pum…
This is bad. I want to sleep! But staring at the electrons moving across my screen is waking me up. Dimmer is better. The more little black words that I type, the better. Why is white the default color for most programs on computers? No one used computers before I was born, right? Humans could have easily gotten used to anything else, right? I guess the last time I saw black with white text was when my family’s Windows 98® was broken and I was on the phone with customer service. I must have been 12 years old.
Pum-pum, pum-pum, pum-pum, pum-pum…
Good thing there is no more Kitadol Max. Not that I would take another. It’s like Dayquil, maybe.
It’s starting to wear off. I guess I’m glad I pulled off the sheets for 1 second in order to grab my laptop. Reading text helps put me to sleep.
Pum-pum, pum-pum, pum-pum…
I ain’t sweating…
Pum-pum…pum-pum…
Still feel sick. No puedo dormirme………………………………..

This reminds me of a “herbal remedy” my Spanish host mom had that I swear makes you sicker… Nicely described. Espero que te sientas mejor pronto.

Something about that room, man. That’s all I’m saying.
